This is the perfect cocktail to showcase Merchants Fire, letting its bold, spicy character shine while remaining refreshing and dangerously drinkable.
A bold, invigorating cocktail that balances sweet citrus, warm spice, and the fiery kick of ginger.
‍Ingredients:
- ‍‍50ml Merchant's Flame Gin
- ‍20ml Fresh lime juice
- ‍15ml Honey syrup (1:1 honey and warm water)
- 3 dashes Aromatic bitters
- ‍100ml Spicy ginger beer (or ginger ale for a milder version)
- Orange peel & long peppercorns (for garnish)
- Ice
‍Method:
- Fill a highball glass with ice.
- Add Merchant's Flame Gin, fresh lime juice, honey syrup, and bitters.
- Stir gently, then top with ginger beer.
- Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink and drop it in.
- Garnish with a whole long peppercorn or a dusting of ground long pepper for extra intrigue.
Why It Works:
- The blood orange in the gin pairs beautifully with the zesty lime and honey, creating a smooth, citrusy backbone.
- The long pepper’s smoky spice is elevated by the heat of the ginger beer, giving a slow-burning warmth.
